On day 3, I talked about how after The Drift, the people of the world race to a centrally located pillar/obelisk known as The Fulcrum. This is not the only obelisk that exists in the world. All of them share the same feature of being the only thing not to move during the drift, causing all of them to be key navigational guideposts for the people of the world. I wanted my post today to detail the other Obelisks that exist in the world.
The Boundary Obelisks: These are 18 obelisks that are equally spaced around the entire edge of the world. They are said to be holding fabric of the world together. (post about the edge of the world coming soon)
The Domain Obelisks: These are 6 obelisks that exist at boundary points between the domains of the 3 Sovereigns. They are said to be the reason the boundaries exist and that if they were to disappear, the Sovereigns would wage war upon one another.
The Cardinal Obelisks: These are the tallest obelisks in all of the world, They exist at a perfect North, East, South, and West. They emit bright red, green, blue, and yellow light respectively and help orient the people of their respective regions.
The Null Obelisk: This Obelisk is located in a remote far southeastern corner of the world. It completely dampens all enigma around it and prevents any magic from being used in its vicinity. If a continent drifts too close to this obelisk, it seen as a death sentence for their society. Legends say that it was once a normal section of the world but that a group of people tried to destroy this obelisk, resulting in its current state today.
There are more obelisks that I didn’t cover today but I think this is a good understanding of them and their purposes.
